Summertime is all about recuperation and unwinding from the year-long stress of work and studies. So if you want to kick back and make the most of this summer we have the perfect summer movie list for you to browse through.

1) A Kid like Jake

This movie is the perfect blend of modern day parenting and the concept of family. It revolves around a couple living in Brooklyn with their four-year-old. The movie takes on the challenges that come with gender confusion as their four-year-old shows increasing interest in fairy tales and princesses as opposed to army figurines and cars. Where the couple battles with the thought that this may be nothing short of a phase, school experts state otherwise. A kid like Jake is the perfect blend of contemporary parenting as they are forced to revisit their roles and redefine their parenting techniques. A star cast including Claire Danes, Jim Parsons, Octavia Spencer, and Priyanka Chopra, this film is not to be missed.

2) Ocean’s 8

Inspired by the Ocean’s films in the past, this super female starrer film revolves around Danny’s’ (played by George Clooney) alienated sister, Debbie. Debbie endeavors to conduct what is expected to be the heist of the century. She gathers a group of female advocates to attack the New York City’s all-star glamorous Met Gala. With Debbie played by Sandra Bullock, this film gives you everything and everyone ranging from Oscar winner Anne Hathaway all the way to music goddess Rihanna.

3) Mamma Mia Again

If you are or ever were an Abba fan then this movie should definitely be on your list. The sequel to the much loved Meryl Streep Mamma Mia that released in 2008, Mamma Mia Here We Go Again is a blast from the past. This movie revolves around the infamous Donna’s youth. It takes the audience to a trip down memory lane as we finally get to see how she meets and “gets to know” the three possible fathers. This movie gives us a unique take on mother-daughter relationship as pregnant Sophie realizes the need to be more like her mother. Though Meryl Streep won’t be returning, we get to see Lily Thompson and Amanda Seyfried.

4) Heart Beats Loud

If you want an emotional film that also gives you new songs to listen to then Heart Beats loud is the one for you. This film is about a father and a daughter venturing into a songwriting duo as a last hurrah before she leaves for college. Featuring Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons is a fantasy movie of how a mediocre job and monotony of 17 years can always change when you take a chance.

5) Incredibles 2

The much anticipated animated movie comes out after 14 years. Revolving around the incredible family of Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) and Elastigirl, we finally get to see Jack-Jack as Bob tries to understand his powers. We are introduced to new characters such as Vyod played by Sophia Bush. This movie is a refreshing reminder of why we love this family.

6) Jurassic World

This exciting and adventurous film entails a return to the Jurassic World theme park that closes years ago. Owen and Claire return to save the dinosaurs. However, it is when they get there that they realize things won’t be that easy as a dormant volcano activates, threatening all life that exists in the vicinity. With a lot of running and audacious near death experiences, this film is a feel good sci-fi movie that you need to complete your summer list.

7) Sanju

What is summer without a few Indian movies here and there (cue the ban)? Sanju is a biopic of the infamous life of Sanjay Dutt. This film is a mixture of everything, romance, greed, violence, suffering, realization and a raven rising from the ashes. This is a man’s journey depicted by none other than Ranbir Kapoor in what’s being called his best performance to date. This movie claims to be an implausible story that just happens to be real.

8) A Star is Born

Introducing Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in roles like never before, this very anticipated film revolves around a renowned musician (Cooper) as he discovers, helps and falls in love with a struggling artist (Gaga). This emotional rollercoaster of a film is everything – romance, drama, music. It is a rise to fame and how fame impacts personal lives and could possibly jeopardize it. This movie is Bradley Cooper at his best.

Now that you’re all set, pop those corns, order that pizza, and get comfortable on your couches for a summer like no other.
