The journey of getting into a dental school in Pakistan is difficult enough, so when you finally see that much-awaited acceptance letter, you assume the worst is behind you. What you don’t realize is that this is the start of a grueling five-year adventure (including the golden house job year) that will you leave you drained of all forms of life and desperate to see the light at the end of the tunnel (slight exaggeration). A dental student has a plethora of interesting thoughts during this period, some of which are highly offensive and slightly morbid. The following is a list of 9 questions that every dental student has asked themselves over the course of their degree:
Will I be rolling in dough as soon as I graduate?
Why do I keep noticing everybody’s teeth now?
Will I ever get out of the prostho lab in time?
Why does everybody hate dentists?
What should I specialize in when I’m done with BDS?
Why is my posture so ergonomically incorrect?
Will my patient actually take my advice this time?
Will I ever have a social life again?
Maybe I will finally be respected when I’m a House Officer?
Dental school is tough and requires a lot of dedication – but at the end of the day, it’s worth it, because it brings you one step closer to your goal. So enjoy the journey and all the hilarity it encompasses. Until next time!
