Punjab Government removes Umar Saif from the chairmanship of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). Dr. Umar Saif was appointed on the position in November 2011.
Dr Saif said, no notification has been issued as of yet. “It is the prerogative of the government to appoint anyone they wish,” he said. “I have worked for the government for seven years. Hope they appoint someone who can take this forward, ” he added.

Dr Saif’s project “Plan9” is Pakistan’s largest start-up incubators and has often been credited for the rise of start-up culture in the country.
Saif holds a BSc degree from the LUMS and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar at Trinity College.
Saif’s work on grassroots technologies received the MIT Technovator Award in 2008 and he was named a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2010.
