For the past seven seasons, Game of Thrones has brought much excitement and a whole lot of misery to its fans. And while many are upset over the rapidly changing character arcs, we have no doubt that everyone will be glued to their screens when the season finale airs on Sunday evening/Monday morning – depending on where you are in the world.
Beware: Spoilers lie ahead.

So before we find out who will eventually sit on the Iron Throne, let’s see where exactly our favourite characters are in their storylines, at least the ones who are still alive
Daenerys Targaryen

In just one episode, the Mother of Dragons transformed into the Queen of Ashes as she burnt Kings Landing to the ground.
Dany’s turn towards the dark side was much anticipated but who knew it would be so swift? Her losses, however, have been profound; in just the past few episodes she lost her dragon Rhaegal, Jorah, Missandei and not to mention the (non-platonic) love of Jon Snow and the trust of her advisor Varys – who is a mound of ashes himself now.
But was this turn really that unpredictable? Dany is the daughter of the Mad King after all and all that inbreeding can’t be good. Throughout the season Dany claimed she would take what was rightfully hers through “blood and fire” and guess what, she did just that. Shocker.

What does Dany’s future look like? Not too bright to be honest. She has emerged victorious from the battle but now it seems like her closest allies will be the ones standing in her way.
Jon Snow

In Game of Thrones, Jon Snow is the literal representation of Drake’s song “Started from the bottom, now we here.”
After Dany, Jon is the second highest person of interest in the series. But he still seems as confused and disoriented as he did in the first season when he arrived at The Wall. Even though he’s the legitimate heir to the throne. But of course, he doesn’t want it. Jon Snow is low-key everyone’s favourite character from the series, but he needs to own up to it! This fellow seriously lacks initiative when it comes to anything other than white walkers.

We left Jon Snow at Kings Landing, with hell raging loose around him. He witnessed first hand the destruction caused by the very Queen he pledged his fealty to. So will Jon turn on Dany? Or atleast try to stop her? We certainly hope so.
Arya Stark

We didn’t think we’d be seeing much of Arya after she offed the Night King and that would have been okay. Because that was pretty epic.
But surprisingly enough, we saw a whole lot of our favourite Stark in the recent episode. We saw first hand the mass destruction and loss of life caused by Dany and her dragon through Arya’s eyes.
Even though Arya has been slightly impartial to the Dragon Queen in the past, it is quite certain that her opinion will change now. And being one of the deadliest foes one can come across in the Seven Kingdoms, that doesn’t bode well for Dany.
Sansa Stark

Sansa sat out the last episode, safe from the destruction in Kings Landing at her family home in Winterfell.
But that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t have been a great asset at Kings Landing. Sansa has come a long way from being the spoilt soon-to-be-princess to one of the toughest characters on the show. It’s not difficult to imagine Sansa ruling over the North, either under the flag of the seven kingdoms or independently. But her fate is tied to that of Jon Snow and Dany, so we’ll have to see how that turns out first.
Bran Stark

We have little to no expectations from Bran, who was set up as one of the most important characters in the show, only to become a major source of disappointment. Till now, Bran’s wisdom and warging hasn’t really led to anything concrete. Will the show reveal how important Bran has been to the entire story line in the last episode of the series or will we just have to wonder on our own? We’re pretty sure it’ll be the latter.
Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion is an expert at survival, but as Hand of the Dragon Queen he has failed miserably. His diplomacy has had zero impact on Dany, and with Varys gone and the city in shambles we’re wondering if he will keep supporting his Mad Queen. Varys and Tyrion were two people who truly cared for the realm more than who sat on the throne and we hope Tyrion sees it to the end – even if it means standing up to Dany.
Not to mention he will still have to face the wrath of Dany for freeing Jamie.
Cersei and Jamie Lannister

We’re pretty sure Cersei and Jamie have met their end (by rocks nonetheless) – but anything is possible in Game of Thrones and we’re still on the fence about this one. Even if they’re alive, it’ll only be for a short while. Dany wasn’t very forgiving to start with, but after the latest episode, we can only pray for those who wrong her and get caught in the process.
Drogon

Drogon is the last of Dany’s dragons.
Viserion was taken out by the Night King and went on to become the Ice Dragon. And Rhagael went down in episode 4 when he was ambushed by Euron’s scorpions.
The fate of Drogon is tied closely to that of Dany, but with Jon being a Targaryen, Dany’s survival isn’t paramount to his survival. And did Drogon lay any eggs or not?! Will we ever find out?
It is quite possible that if anyone other than Dany takes the thrones, they might decide to do away with dragons for good, especially after the destruction caused at Kings Landing.
