Prime Minister Imran Khan directed authorities to visit the site of the anti-government Azadi March to see what aid they could provide the activists following a major temperature drop in the capital
On Tuesday, unexpected rain in the capital caused a drop in temperature leaving many participants of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Azadi March cold, sick and ill-prepared for the chilly weather.
After photos emerged online of protestors sleeping in the cold and rain, the Prime Minister issued a statement on Twitter saying he had asked the Capital Development Authority chairman to visit the site of the protest and determine what assistance can be provided for the participants.
Senator Faisal Javed Khan stated that the Azadi March members were important and respected members of the community, therefore, cooperation and aid for them is to be issued immediately
Photos that surfaced online displayed activists sleeping on mattresses on the ground and using plastic covering or light clothing to keep themselves warm during the temperature drop
Thousands of protestors have partaken in the Azadi March in Islamabad with the end goal of resignation from Imran Khan.
