Tehreek-i-Labbaik leader Khadim Hussain Rizvi is among 26 charged for violent protests initiated by TLP in reference to Asia Bibi last year
A total of 26 suspects were issued copies of the challan after an Anti-Terrorism Court Judge announced the charges against the religio-political leaders. Some of the suspects also appeared in court, for whom strict security measures were placed in the area. The court also issued summons for witnesses in the next hearing which will be tomorrow.
Last year, violent protests had erupted after the acquittal of Aasia bibi in the Supreme Court, led by TLP activists and other religious parties. Major roads and intersections had been blocked by sit-ins and barricades. The case against the suspects accuses them of sedition and terrorism for delivering anti-state speeches and inciting violence during the three day protests.
