Prime Minister Imran Khan is set to launch the Pakistan Clean Green Index initiative today, the first campaign of it’s kind in Pakistan.

The initiative is going to be Pakistan’s first ever barometer to measure the cleanliness of cities and green character.

The PM’s Advisor on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam, announced that the goal of the initiative is to improve overall green and clean outlooks of Pakistani cities by making the cities compete on the basis of five indicators. These indicators include: sustainable public access to clean drinking water, safe sanitation, effective solid waste management, hygiene and tree plantation.

Moreover, the Advisor also explained that in judging the performance of each city, a point system would be established out of 20 marks. Nineteen districts of Punjab including Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa will be taking part in this initiative.

Additionally, the government will also be launching the Clean Green Champion Program which is a volunteer initiative where anyone from across the country can participate using their CNIC numbers. A point system will be in place for this initiative as well and participants will be rewarded points and incentives based on the activities they do.
