On Thursday, Indian resorted to an unprovoked shelling at the Line of Control killing two civilians and wounding two others.
According to the ISPR, Indian forces targeted Jora sector along the LoC. As a result of the shelling, two civilians from the Pakistani side of the border were martyred in the shelling; 14 year old Sheharyar and 29 year old Naveed.
Furthermore, two civilians were also seriously wounded during the cross-border fire. Of the two, one included a woman. According to the ISPR, the Pakistan Army was quick to respond to the firing and was successful in damaging the Indian post that fired the at the Pakistani civilian sector.
The ISPR further mentioned that there were reports that casualties had taken place in the Indian border forces as a result of the exchange.
Three Pakistani soldiers were also injured in the firing exchange.
The shelling attack came two days after the Indian army chief’s controversial statements against Pakistan during which he warned that the situation across the Line of Control could escalate at any time, reported the Times of India.
General Bipin Rawat had said that the Indian army was prepared for the spiraling of the escalation matrix.
