Adviser to PM Imran on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has said that the Hunza Valley has become Asia’s first plastic-free district.

He said, “Hunza has become the first district in Asia to be plastic-bag free. The people of Hunza deserve congratulations for implementing the ban. I hope they will continue cooperating with the administration to keep the city clean and free of plastic bags”. The adviser said the government is committed to replicate Hunza’s success in other districts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad in the next four months. He then distributed 10,000 cloth bags among the people after the ceremony.

How environmental friendly is Pakistan?

Though Lahore and Karachi amount up for a lot of pollution in Pakistan, steps are being taken to curb the pollution. PM Imran Khan’s scheme of growing trees has worked splendidly, while the single use plastic ban has made it possible for Hunza to become the first plastic-free zone in Asia. Keeping all this in mind, we really are going on a right path.
