The Lahore High Court has banned the use of polythene bags in hotels and shops in Lahore.
During a hearing on Friday, the court gave shops and hotels two weeks to phase out plastic bags and find alternatives.
In the coming weeks, the court plans to ban the use of plastic bags in other cities as well by proposing the legislation in the NA.
The judges asked company representatives when they would stop producing plastic bottles, because they are looking to revoke the use of those aswell.
The Punjab Wildlife Department assured that the order would be implemented.
