PM’s Special Assistant on Health Dr Zafar Mirza confirms that Pakistan has detected nine new cases of the coronavirus.
He said that the new cases are contacts of an already confirmed case and have caught on because of contact.
The Sindh health department first confirmed one case of a 53-year-old male, but later released a second statement saying that eight new cases have emerged in Karachi.
Five of the patients had traveled from Syria via Doha, while the three others came from London via Dubai in the last week.
“The department is in the process of tracking all the contacts down for further testing. This brings the total number of cases to 13 in Sindh, out of which 1 has been cured and discharged,” the Sindh health department’s second statement read.
What’s the count now for Pakistan?
The total number of cases reported in Pakistan so far are 16. The other three cases were reported from Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan. Authorities say all the patients are in stable condition and are in their recovering process.
No details have been give as yet about the new cases.
