Germany has received 47 unaccompanied refugee children flying in from Greece’s overcrowded refugee camps.
Germany previously took in a group of 12 which arrived in Luxembourg on Wednesday and the second group arrived on Saturday.
“Germany is sticking to its promise”
In a pledge signed by 10 EU nations including Germany, countries agreed to host a total of 16000 unaccompanied refugee minors from overflowing refugee camps in Greece.
“We are providing a concrete sign of European solidarity,” said Seehofer, Germany’s federal Interior Minister Horst Seehofer.
The group that arrived on Saturday consisted of mostly boys, as well as four girls coming from crises-hit areas Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Eritrea.
Seehofer, who was known for being outspoken against immigration stated, “Germany is sticking to its promise.”
