Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has refused to forcefully take a vaccine for the new coronavirus.
“Personally I am opposed to vaccination and I wouldn’t want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine in order to be able to travel,” said Djokovic.
The fate of professional tennis in 2020
With major tournaments suspended till at least July and Wimbledon completely off the calendar, the USTA has yet to make a decision about the fate of the tournament.
While answering a series of questions during a Facebook live chat, Djokovic explained, “Hypothetically, if the season was to resume in July, August or September, though unlikely, I understand that a vaccine will become a requirement straight after we are out of strict quarantine and there is no vaccine yet.”
Djokovic ended the chat somewhat inconclusively saying that his views about the vaccine may change according to future circumstances.
