What happened:

Jinnah Tower, a landmark in the city of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, was named after the founder of Pakistan. It is now being re-painted to the color of the Indian flag because of the controversy around Muhammad Ali Jinnah being the founder of Pakistan and not India. At the same time, the BJP workers and leaders have staged a protest around the Tower in Guntur, as they demand it to be renamed after the former Indian president APJ Abdul Kalam.

Details:

The BJP leaders have also raised slogans stating, “This is India, not Pakistan; why should we have a tower named after Pakistan’s founder?” Another BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao condemned the police’s action but tweeted, “I wonder if we are in Andhra Pradesh or Pakistan.”
