What happened:

On June 14, a doctor and her husband gave emergency medical treatment to a 14 year-old boy  who had fallen in a lake in Gilgit-Naltar Baltistan’s region.

Back story:

The boy identified as Arif Khan was grazing cattle when he fell into the Satrangi Lake, and his uncle Tariq Mir, 17, leaped into the water to save his drowning nephew.

How the tourist couple found them:

The couple arrived in upper Naltar to find a crowd of people screaming near the lake. Mr Chaudhary, a Multan resident, stated that when he and his wife, Dr. Qurat ul Ain exited the vehicle, they saw Tariq Mir had just been pulled out from the water. The locals were able to retrieve the young man from the lake, but he had no pulse and was unconscious due to his lungs being full with water. Click here to watch the video.

CPR procedure:

The couple began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the boy right away, which is a life-saving method that keeps blood and oxygen flowing in the body when the heart and breathing cease. They were able to save Mir’s life, and after some time, he regained consciousness.

The boy who died:

Chaudhary claimed that his local driver, Muhammad from Nagar, leapt into the lake and attempted to save Arif Khan, but he couldn’t survive.
