But, this year’s an exception since many big production houses have announced the release of some really exciting horror movies. Some of these movies have teasers released already and I think it is safe to say that they will struggle to disappoint.

- Insidious: The Red Door
The much anticipated Insidious franchise has made a big comeback with the announcement of its 5th installment titled “Insidious: The Red Door”, marking its star Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut. Once again, we can expect to delve into the world of Dalton and his nightmares as he attends high school. The film stars all the main cast members including Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins, Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell, and so on.

2. The Nun 2
After the massive success of The Nun, James Wan comes back with another fear-packed surprise from his production. Once again, we are going to witness the thrilling and bone-chilling atmosphere of Romania, its Abbey, and Catholicism. The film has been directed by Michael Chaves who has recently delivered the third installment in the Conjuring franchise: The Devil Made Me Do It.
The film is expected to release on September 8, 2023.
3. The Boogeyman
Stephan King has always been the king of the horror genre and his spine-chilling writing is loved all around the globe. Recently, we got to see the trailer of one of his book adaptations “The Boogeyman” starring Sophie Thatcher and Chris Messina. The film looks spooky and packed with jump scares.

4. Haunted Mansion
Based on Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name, Walt Disney Pictures is bringing the spooky home to life with an upcoming film. The project marks the second theatrical film adaptation of the ride, following 2003’s The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy. The upcoming movie has a star-studded cast, including Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, LaKeith Stanfield, as well as Dan Levy, and Hassan Minaj.

5. Salem’s Lot
Another one of Stephen King’s masterpieces has been adapted into several movies and TV series over the years, including the 1979 TV miniseries directed by Tobe Hooper and the 2004 TV miniseries starring Rob Lowe. In 2023, it has been officially announced that a movie based on the book will be released under the direction of Gary Dauberman, who recently delivered the much anticipated Annabelle Comes Home.
