What happened: According to several reports by local publications, Karachi has witnessed a decline in street crime incidents, as the Karachi police shared data. The data was collected from all the eight districts of Karachi and, as TheNation quotes, “Showed a decline in street crime incidents in the metropolis during the month of April.” The data cited by different publications showed that 2118 mobiles were snatched compared to 2416 mobiles snatched in the earlier month. Details: A local publication quoted the data as, “Citizens were deprived of a total of 3969 motorbikes and 195 cars in April, while street criminals stole 4270 motorbikes and 219 cars during the month of March.” Whereas, during the month of March 7316, Karachiites were looted. More: At the same time, it was reviewed that a decrease of 700 street crim incidents in the month of April as compared to March was witnessed. Whereas, it is pertinent to mention that Karachi police have also drafted a law for the e-tagging of street criminals in a bid to curb the incidents of looting in the city.
