What happened: On February 15, Rajinder Menghwar, after acing the CSS Exam, became Pakistan’s first Hindu ASP. Human rights activist from Pakistan, Kapil Dev, tweeted, “Rajinder Meghwar, from Malkani Sharif, Badin, becomes the first Hindu who has been allocated to the Police Service of Pakistan after qualifying CSS-2021.” It is pertinent to mention that the first Hindu girl to be inducted into Sindh police was Pushpa Kohli, as she cleared her CSS exam in 2019.
Reaction: Appreciating the achievement, Skail Rai wrote, “I hope pretty soon such news becomes routine and need not be viewed as an exception. All citizens of the state are equal no matter their religion, race or ethnicity.” Syed Zulfiqar Ali tweeted, “Good, but become a good human is more important than HINDU and MUSLIM.”
