In a unique development, Taliban call for restraint in the Russia-Ukraine conflict

What happened: The Taliban-led Afghan government has called for restraint as Russia invaded Ukraine. In a statement, the Taliban foreign policy spokesperson claims that Kabul’s policy is of neutrality. In a statement, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the Afghan policy spokesperson, said,  “All sides need to desist from taking positions that could intensify violence.”  Subsequently, he added that the Taliban government follows a  “foreign policy of neutrality and calls on both sides of the conflict to resolve the crisis through dialogue and peaceful means”. Details: Whereas, it is pertinent to mention that the Russian President has supported the Taliban-led government, according to reports. On the other hand, the foreign policy spokesperson urged both countries to protect the migrant students in Ukraine. Taliban’s statement: On his Twitter handle, the foreign policy spokesperson said,  “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine and expresses concern about real possibility of civilian casualties.”  Adding to his statement, Abdul urged,  “The Islamic Emirate calls for restraint by both parties. All sides need to desist from taking positions that could intensify violence.”
