What happened: In a bid to help the poor families of Sindh, Haziqah, aged 10, and her five year-old sister, Khadeejah raised approximately £40,000. The girls teamed up with ‘Jigsaw’, a Birmingham-based volunteer-led charity and in just seven weeks, they were able to raise more than £30,000. Details: It’s worth noting that the sisters previously raised over £50,000 for families in Thar, Sindh, during Ramadan. Haziqah and Khadija set out to earn money, to help the neighbourhood where their mother and grandparents grew up. The girls raised £50,000 during the holy month, which went towards food kits for households in the Thar desert. The girls, inspired by their own success, decided to do it all over again this winter and suceeded. What else: Their father, who works at an airport, didn’t think his daughters would be able to raise any amount during the Christmas season, “However, I am blown away by the amount we’ve raised again.” He further added that they had a lot of help from Al Akhirah funeral services in Sparkbrook, as well as donations from all over the country.
