Transgenders Are Now Eligible to Apply for PPSC Jobs

In a historic decision made today, the Punjab Government will now consider transgenders when recruiting for any post in all provincial institutions. Transgenders are now eligible to apply for jobs for which recruitment will be carried out through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). The president of the Shemale Association, Almas Bobby, has voiced out her her happiness for the governments’ decision regarding allowing transgenders to pursue jobs in PPSC. Furthermore, the chairperson for the Shemale Association also called for free education for transgenders along with free text books. The heads of all departments have been notified about this new decision. This decision is landmark in the history of Pakistan. It is perhaps the first step towards safeguarding the rights of transgenders. Hopefully, the government will be making more decision such as this one. In 2018 the Transgender Person (Protection of Rights) act Pakistanis were allowed to choose to self-identify as male, female, both or neither. They may express their gender according to their own preferences, and they may have their gender identity of choice reflected on their documents. Such as, National Identification Cards, passports, driver’s licenses and education certificates.”
