World renowned Collins dictionary has declared Climate Strike as the Word of the Year for 2019
Climate strikes became a global movement as protests took place all around the world advocating for action on climate change, thanks to the work of activists like 16 year old Greta Thunberg. The strikes became so frequent around the world that the words increased by a 100 times in 2019, according to Collins dictionary. Just on Global Climate Strike on September 20 more than 6,100 events were held in 185 countries, backed by 73 trade unions, 820 civil organisations, 3000 companies and 8500 websites- the event was recorded as the largest mobilisation of climate change with the participation of more than 7 million people.
