Former Miss Switzerland Allegedly Strangled and Dismembered by Husband

What Happened: Former Miss Switzerland Kristina Joksimovic was allegedly strangled, dismembered, and “pureed” by her husband, Thomas, who is now facing trial for her murder.

What you need to know: A former Miss Switzerland finalist, Kristina Joksimovic, 38, was allegedly strangled, dismembered, and then “pureed” in a blender, according to her autopsy report. Her remains were found at her home near Basel, Switzerland, in February.

What more: Swiss media outlet FM1 Today reported that the autopsy revealed her body was dismembered using a jigsaw power tool, knife, and secateurs in the laundry room. Some of her body parts were then blended and dissolved in a chemical solution.

Also: Her husband, Thomas, 41, who is currently on trial for her murder, claimed he acted in self-defense after Joksimovic attacked him with a knife. He confessed to the killing and admitted to dismembering her body in a panic. His appeal for release from custody was recently denied by the Federal Court. Joksimovic, who was a 2007 Miss Northwest Switzerland winner, had two children with Thomas.

Additionally: A forensic report indicated that Joksimovic died from strangulation. Prosecutors argue that Thomas displayed a lack of empathy and cold-blooded behavior in his attempt to cover up the crime. Former Miss Switzerland Christa Rigozzi, who knew Joksimovic, expressed shock and sorrow, particularly for Joksimovic’s two daughters, describing her as a beautiful and kind-hearted woman
