‘Heatwave in Pakistan is not only caused by climate change but other factors too’

What happened: As the scorching sun, especially in South Asia, has killed several and hospitalised others, the researchers are now investigating how much human-caused climate change is causing the surge in the heatwave. As the temperature across the country is soring up to record highs, power outages have become a norm in Pakistan, but the scientists have warned of more severe heatwaves in the coming years. What you need to know: Whereas, the researchers have quoted,  “South Asia’s heatwave is unusual because it’s happening much earlier in the season than normal, as it caught people off-guard.”  Subsequently, Pakistan had power outages in Pakistan have lasted up to 12 hours,  “cutting off power when people need cooling the most.”  It has also been reported that 65 people in Pakistan have reportedly been killed due to the heatwave, as an increase in the casualties is predicted.
