Your skin is the first thing everyone notices about you. It is your first introduction to the world and as such it needs to truly encompass your best self. However, skincare for men in Pakistan is an absolute travesty. From poorly manufactured products to 3-1 combos that do nothing for the skin, men’s skincare is not taken seriously. Seeing this gap in the market, Zen Skincare (@zenskincarepakistan) was launched to provide natural skincare options for men who are looking for premium quality, highly effective products that offer good value for money.
Now, you shouldn’t just trust anyone with your skin which is why we contacted this dermatologist.
Dr. Hasnain Ali Syed (@hasnainasyed) is a young resident dermatologist who wants to not only recommend the best products to his clients but also find products that work for his sensitive skin as well. In regards to Zen Skincare we asked him a few questions and here’s what he had to say.
How is Zen Skincare different from other local brands?
Well, to be honest, one would have to try other local brands to run a thorough comparison, and I haven’t really done that. Having seborrheic dermatitis (a skin condition that causes my skin to flare up because of harmful chemicals in products), I am extremely conscious about what I use on my skin. I use very limited, tried and trusted products that aren’t hyper-allergenic. However, considering Zen Skincare is the ONLY brand that I trust with my skin, it speaks volumes of my trust in their process and products. Their ingredients are organic and the products are cruelty free which for me is a great plus. Their products do not feel heavy on the skin and I personally have not had any adverse reactions which is why Zen Skincare is my go-to skincare brand.
What type of products does Zen Skincare have?
They have a decent range of products that range from body washes, body bars, shampoo bars, and lip balm. They are all thankfully organic. None of them caused me to have a hypersensitivity reaction so they all pass the skincare vibe check if I do say so myself.
How are Zen Skincare’s products price point wise?
Contrary to the popular belief that organic products are normally unaffordable, I found these products aptly priced. They are not entirely on the inexpensive side but definitely are not outrageously expensive either. And frankly, my Zen Skincare Marble Bar lasted more than a month so I’d say the products offer a good value for the price point.
So what order do you recommend that these products should be used?
Firstly, wash your face with the marble bar. Use only just a little because it lathers up pretty well. Once you’ve dried your face, apply any medication or serum that you normally do.
Secondly, open the zen body balm. I would recommend that you take a moment to inhale its extremely refreshing scent because that is what I do. Use only a chickpea sized dollop for your full face. You can apply it to your face and hands or full body. If you have active acne, you would want to apply a thinner coat to your face. You do not need to use a sunblock separately because it does have sun protection properties but if you’re super conscious (as you should be), you can apply sunblock now. If you’re looking to do makeup you can do it at this stage. That’s it for the face, you’re good to go! You can use the Zen Skincare shampoo whenever you need to wash your hair. There are no rules to that. And you should apply the lip balm daily, preferably twice.
What’s the worst thing one could do to their skin by using non natural products?
Any adverse effect you can think of, depends on the skin type really. The damage can go from a slight allergic reaction to deep skin burns. And because I always use products myself before prescribing them to patients, I have fallen prey to some unnatural products that have left my skin burning. However, thankfully, with Zen Skincare I’ve found a few products that have become constants in my own skincare routine.
