India is facing a diabetes epidemic due to samosas and fries, snacks that are just as common in Pakistan

A groundbreaking clinical trial has linked the consumption of AGE (Advanced Glycation End Products)-rich foods, including samosas and fries, to India’s status as the world’s diabetes capital.

The study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) found that these foods contribute to inflammation, a major factor in diabetes.
