What happened: On Apr 6, a Peshawar-based entrepreneur named Hurmat Ali Shah took to his Twitter handle where he shared the picture of a driver and a notice slip, belonging to Peshawar Model School, as the man asked Hurmat to translate what’s written in it, “The paper was from a school asking the parent to see the kid’s results and to guide the child. It was for his kid,” adding that he is currently a KG student. Click here to read the conversation between Hurmat and the father who told him that he also has a vision of educating his son as it is not just about getting a job but to give him good character. Details: The father was also concerned about the fact that he is unable to assist his son now that he is in KG, he won’t be of much help, “But he was hopeful. He would get help from people in his taxi but would guide his son,” Hurmat narrated. The user also emphasised on the driver’s physical appearance and how people like him are taken as a fanatic, “Here is a man with a beard and a cap belonging to the toiling class with the established image that people with beards are either fanatic or too far from affairs of the world.” Why it matters: Hurmat says that our conversations, debates and ideas don’t center on these stories of human dreams and struggle, “Our vision of the world is lopsided and jaundiced when it comes to people not in our affinity. The best of theory and the best of analysis can always be produced if it is grounded in the people.”
