New govt, new threats: UN report highlights Afghanistan-based TTP is a threat to Pakistan￼
The Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan’s Afghanistan sector is a threat to Pakistan, the United Nations report highlighted to express tribune quotes. The UN Security Council Monitoring team on Afghanistan revealed the report, “TTP constitutes the largest component of foreign terrorist fighters in Afghanistan, with their number estimated to be several thousand.”
At the same time, the European diplomat is quoted by Express Tribune, “The presence of several thousand TTP fighters in Afghanistan, as stated in the latest UN report, quite understandably poses a serious and credible threat from Pakistan’s perspective.” Subsequently, the UN Monitoring Team’s claimed that other than TTP Al Qaeda, Daesh and related groups also pose a threat to Pakistan’s security. It is pertinent to mention that TTP was also responsible for the attack on Army Public School in Peshawar and other attacks in Pakistan.
