What happened: Pakistan now ranks third in the world for the largest number of videos taken down from the short video-making platform TikTok. Currently, TikTok has taken down more than 6.5 million videos in Pakistan for violating the community guidelines, making Pakistan the third-ranked country globally for the largest number of videos taken down. Details: TikTok released its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Quarter 4 2021, and it stated, “The video application removed 6,563,594 Pakistani videos.” On the other hand, 85 million videos were removed globally to remove the harassment and other negative behaviour policies in their community guidelines. Subsequently, the quarterly report showed, “94.1% of the videos were removed within 24-hours of being posted for violating community guidelines, while 95.2% were removed before a user reported them and 90.1% were removed.” More: At the same time, the TikTok platform claimed that 14.7% of content was reported for harassment and bullying content, 10.9% for hateful behaviour, 16.2% for violent extremism and 7.7% for dangerous acts.
