Pakistan Sends Relief Shipment to Lebanon Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflict

What Hapened: Pakistan’s NDMA dispatched a relief shipment to Lebanon, continuing its humanitarian efforts for those affected by Israel’s military actions in the Middle East, marking the country’s 12th aid delivery to the region.

What you need to know: On Thursday, Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) sent a shipment of relief items to Lebanon as part of the government’s humanitarian assistance for those affected by Israel’s military actions in the Middle East. The ongoing conflict began after a surprise attack by Hamas in October of last year, leading to Israeli airstrikes and a blockade of the Gaza Strip. This war has resulted in nearly 43,000 Palestinian deaths, primarily among women and children.

What more: Recently, Israel has opened another front in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah, which has provided military support to Palestinians, raising concerns about a potential regional conflict involving Iran. Following directives from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the NDMA continues to offer humanitarian aid to those affected in Gaza and Lebanon.

Also: The latest aid shipment, which left Karachi for Lebanon, includes about 100 tons of supplies such as medicines, ready-to-eat meat, tents, tarpaulins, warm bedding, winter clothing, and powdered milk. This shipment was organized in collaboration with the Al-Khidmat Foundation and was sent off from Jinnah International Airport, attended by officials from NDMA, the foreign ministry, Al-Khidmat Foundation, and local administration.

Additionally: This marks Pakistan’s 12th aid shipment to Palestine and Lebanon, with ten previous consignments sent to Palestine and this being the second to Lebanon. The government has also set up a relief fund to collect public donations for the people in Gaza and Lebanon.
