What happened: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen’s chief, Assadudin Owaisi in his address to an election rally, said, “If a girl decides to wear hijab and asks her parents to do so and her parents allow her, who can stop her from wearing it?” At the same time, the Member of Indian Parliament, Owaisi, said, “Wearing a hijab or wearing a burqa is our fundamental right and no one has the right to stop us from wearing it.”
Details: It is pertinent to mention that Owaisi’s remarks come a day after the Karnataka school administration barred students from entering the school without removing their hijabs. While, in his address, the chief said, “The girls will wear hijab, will wear niqab and go to colleges and become doctors, collectors and businesswomen.”
