13 people burnt to death in bus-van collision near Sheikhupura

What happened: 13 people have burned to death, while 17 others are injured due to a bus-van collision in near Sheikhupura today, on the 30th of November. Rescue officials have said that the blaze resulting from the collision charred both vehicles completely and left the victims burned beyond recognition. A speeding bus travelling from Narowal to lahore collided with a van coming from Lahore in the opposite direction, on Narowal Road in the area of Narang Mandi. Rescue officials stated that they fog may have been a factor in the accident as well. The LPG cylinder in the van exploded immediately upon impact and took the lives of all 13 of the van’s passengers. The passengers of the bus were able to disembark before the bus caught fire completely. Rescue services reached the area and were able to put out the fire, and recover bodies from the accident site. Rescue workers provided first aid to the 17 injured passengers before sending them to the Narang Mandi Rural Healthcare Centre. The 17 injured passengers were eventually moved to Mayo hospital in Lahore. Sheikhupura Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asghar Joiya confirmed the death toll and injuries, saying the accident that took place near Meeran Shah Darbar was apparently the result of over-speeding.
