4 patients lost their lives in result of violent protest held by lawyers at Lahore’s Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC). Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar have taken notice of the situation.
The number of deaths were confirmed by Dr Salman Haseeb, Chairman Grand Health alliance. According to sources, the patients were in critical condition when they were left unattended due to the violent protest.
A report has been summoned from Lahore Capital City Police Officer, provincial secretary of specialised health and medical education.
This all started with a video which went viral on social media. In this video a doctor shared his encounter with a group of lawyers. The lawyers have urged Inspector General (IG) to arrest doctors under the section 7 of AtA.
The IG refused their request after which large number of lawyers took over PIC, damaging the property and threatening the doctors. Lawyers even went on to attack media personnel, snatching their phones and leaving them injured.
