Pakistan Army Stresses Self-Accountability and Reports on Balochistan Unrest

What Happened: DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry affirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to self-accountability and reported extensive anti-terror operations, including a strong response to recent unrest in Balochistan.


What you need to know: The court-martial of retired Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed was carried out as part of this process, following a high-level inquiry initiated in April 2024 based on concrete evidence. The army’s spokesperson confirmed that Faiz Hameed had violated multiple statutes. Chaudhry also reported that in 2024, the security forces conducted 32,173 operations against terrorists, with 90 Al-Khawrij Fitna killed last month and 193 officers martyred.
