Green Entertainment – Should we anticipate a revolution in the Pakistani Drama Industry?

Pakistani dramas have always been appreciated throughout the world. Although our films have a long way to go in terms of making business and gaining popularity, our dramas are quite sensational and relevant to the target audience, especially in South Asia. However, our major production houses have lately been stuck in a bubble of regressive storytelling. Their main motive is to make money through the content that is most popular and watched by the audience. And sadly, that content lacks quality and structure as a whole. Many scriptwriters and production houses work on bringing something new and thought-provoking to the audience since TV dramas have a huge influence on people. But if we talk about the majority, we’re still quite a few steps behind. Green Entertainment is a newly announced TV channel that has been creating a lot of buzz lately. They have marketed it in a way that the audience is full of intrigue as to what they can expect from it. They say themselves that “It is not a channel, it is a movement”, so we can definitely expect it to bring something out of the box.

So far, a few drama teasers have been launched that are supposed to go on-air on Green Entertainment. These dramas include Jindo, 101 talaqein, Kabuli pulao, and a 19-episode-based Horror web series called Siyah. All the teasers look extremely promising with a star-studded cast and some of the finest directors in our country including Kashif Nisar and Anjum Shahzad. The channel seems to be bringing us a rollercoaster of content that will consist of topics rarely touched upon, genres that have not been explored fully as well as well-written, arched characters. We’re really anticipating Green Entertainment’s official launch and witnessing the revolution of content in Pakistan. Are you?
