Supreme Court wraps up Dua Zehra case after father withdrew petition

What happened:  The Supreme Court of Pakistan has now wrapped up the  mysterious case  of Dua Zehra. The Karachi registry of SC on June 23 disposed of a petition filed by Mehdi Kazmi challenging the SHC decision to allow her to stay with her husband.  Details:  Justice Shah’s remarks are quoted by Express Tribune as  questioning her father, ‘what is your problem?’ ‘If she meets you and says she wants to be with her husband, what will you say?’”  At the same time, Justice Akhtar remarked,  “We understand the sensitivity of the case but do not get emotional. You have read the Marriage Act; only a girl can challenge her marriage or file a case of harassment and kidnapping.”
