What happened: The Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Taimur Jhagra, has once again claimed that the federal government has stopped funding the PTI-initiated Sehat Card. Tribune quotes the details: “ Sehat Cards have been terminated in the tribal districts to the dismay of the local residents who demand that tribal districts are now part of KP and the provincial government is responsible for its funding, not federal.” Provincial government’s response: On the other hand, Taimur Jhagra has stated that the decision to stop the Sehat Card for almost 1.2 million families of the tribal district was unilateral and deemed it be an illegal act by the federal government. At the same time, Dawn quotes the development as, “The federal government has stopped funding free treatment of residents of tribal districts under its Sehat Sahulat Programme and asked the provincial government to incorporate them into its free healthcare initiative.”
