What happened: On February 6, a gang-rape victim was shot dead by her brother in Kot Momin near Sargodha allegedly after the 28 year old victim was raped by 4 members of an influential family. Dawn reported the incident as, “Feeling aggrieved the victim’s brother along with his two accomplices, allegedly shot dead his sister and managed to escape.” On the other hand, it was reported that the Laksian Police Station registered a case against the alleged rapists and were unable to apprehend them.
Details: Whereas, Dawn’s report suggests that the brother who allegedly murdered his sister reportedly took the initiative after the police were unable to apprehend the alleged gang rapists. Another publication quoted the incident as, “The suspect told the police that he took action on his own as police did not arrest suspects who were pressurizing his family to reconcile with them.”
More: However, on February 7, the local police claimed that the alleged rapists were able to get pre-arrest bails from the court, which is till February 11. At the same time, after the incident, Pakistanis have demanded death penalties for the rapists.
