Staff along with Indian Muslim students in Karnataka forced to remove hijab as school reopens

What happened:  A few educational institutions in the Indian state of Karnataka were opened after a gap of a few weeks on February 15, but as TRT World quoted,  “School authorities at several places ensured the Muslim students, teachers and other staff, remove their Islamic headgear in front of TV cameras before entering school premises.”  At the same time, it was reported that the parents of Karnataka school students urged the administration to allow their daughters to wear hijab.

Details: Karnataka educational institutions were closed earlier in February when a female student was refused entry with her hijab. Subsequently, the Karnataka court ordered to ban wearing hijab until a final order is passed by the court. Another Indian publication quoted the development and a student as,  “They(school administration) are not allowing entry with hijab.”  On the other hand, ALT News’ co-founder, Mohammed Zubair, tweeted,  “IT WAS NEVER ABOUT THE UNIFORM: Muslim teachers and staff being publicly humiliated to remove their hijab before entering the school campus.”

More:  Whereas, the students of Karnataka students were quoted by TRT World,  “Seven students with hijabs were sitting for exams but the officers there refused permission. They insisted on being allowed to wear it.. their parents were called and all seven then walked out of the exam hall and went home.”
