What happened: On Feb 2, Syed Ali Akbar Shah, Senior Superintendent of Police was assigned as the new SSP investigation officer, replacing SSP Attaur Rehman, with the mandate to prosecute the Noor Mukadam murder case as well as the couple harrasment case in the trial courts.  Details: SSP Rehman was transferred to the Central Police Office, according to police spokesman, Rehman was removed from his position due to the investigation wing’s failure to appear in court with sufficient preparations. He stated that the police faced embarrassment throughout the trials of both cases due to the wing’s lack of interest. In both cases, there was a substantial amount of evidence against the accused, but the police failed to properly present it in court.
