#WeWantFreedom trends on Twitter as February 5 marks Kashmir Solidarity Day

What happened: February 5 marks Kashmir Solidarity Day and the Prime Minister stated to lend full support to the people of Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination. On February 5, the entire nation and Kashmiris living all over the world observed the Kashmir Solidarity Day reaffirm its support to the Kashmiris in their struggle. At the same time, #WeWantFreedom trended on Twitter and the social media users expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

What was Imran Khan’s message? On his Twitter, the premier wrote,  “Pakistan stands united with our Kasmiri brothers & sisters and committed to their legitimate struggle for self-determination.”  Adding to this,  “Modi’s fascist policies of oppression & violence have failed to crush the spirit of the Kashmiri resistance in IIOJK.” 

COAS’s message on occasion :   DG ISPR tweeted,  “Tribute 2 ppl of Kashmir, their resolve and valiant struggle, braving gravest human rights violations & lockdown in IIOJ&K under Indian occupation forces..” 

Twitter’s trend:   #WeWantFreedom trended on Twitter as users showed their support for the Kashmiri people. Ali Gondal tweeted,  “Kashmir belongs to Pakistan.. Kashmir will get its rights soon.”  Another user wrote,  “Stop spreading fuss in the world, stop bleedings of Kashmiris, don’t fear to raise your hands.”
