Celebratory firing in Karachi on New Year’s eve leaves 17 injured and 1 dead

What happened: On January 1, as a result of aerial firing in Sindh’s capital, 17 citizens suffered bullet injuries, and one was killed. Fireworks and aerial firing were heard in different Karachi areas as the citizens welcomed the New Year. However, the Karachi police had tightened the security in the provincial capital and had issued warnings. Details: At the same time, Karachi police’s SSP stated that anyone found guilty of aerial firing will be charged with an attempt to murder. According to Daily Times, nearly twenty people were taken to hospital with bullet injuries. Whereas, the reports suggest that the number of casualties on New Year’s eve was higher than the previous year. Traffic blockage was reported on roads leading to the Sea View and Shahra-e-Faisal. On the other hand, Karachi police have registered several FIRs for aerial firing.
