What happened: It is pertinent to mention that the accused in the Dua Mangi case had escaped police custody and the Karachi police had failed to re-arrest the suspect. On January 27, prime accused Zohaib Qureshi had escaped after he was illegally brought to a shopping centre before the hearing at city courts. However, as The News reported, “Police have decided to announce head money after Zohaib Qureshi was able to escape due to the negligence of the court police.”
Details: At the same time, the Sindh IGP Mushtaq Mehr will write a letter to the home department regarding the rewards money. Subsequently, the Karachi police arrested 5 more suspects in the Dua Mangi case with their alleged link to Zuhaib Qureshi. Qureshi is the nephew of the nationalist party’s leader and the police raided houses of its leaders to apprehend the accused.
