What happened: Late last night, American troops left the Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan quietly without informing Afghan military officials. The Afghan military officials found out about the US departure two hours after they had left the airfield. Details: Looters took advantage of the quiet departure of US and ransacked the airfield as there was a 20-minute blackout after the US troops left. Many Afghan soldiers think the US has abandoned them after 20 years by leaving the country without informing Afghan officials. The Bagram airfield is now under Gen. Mir Asadullah Kohistani.
“We have to solve our problem,” the new Afghan commander of Bagram, Kohistani, said. “We have to secure our country and once again build our country with our own hands.”
