On Wednesday, one person was killed and 12 others, including policemen, were injured after police clashed with protesters from Janikhel while they were marching towards Islamabad. The protesters announced to march to the federal capital to register their protest after talks with the administration failed on Tuesday. The administration had deployed a large number of cops to stop the protesting Janikhel tribesmen from proceeding to Islamabad. The police allegedly resorted to tear gas shelling and fired warning shots to stop the protesters. A similar protest was staged in Janikhel in March after bullet-riddled bodies of four teens were found in Bannu on 21st March 2021. An agreement was signed after successful negotiations between the government’s team led by KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and the protesters at the Bannu Commissioner Office. Hence, the protest ended on 29th March. The government, however, failed to implement the agreement. Click here for more from Propergaanda.
