What happened: Pashtun Tahafuz Movement leader Mohsin Dawar decided to part ways from an 11-party alliance of Pakistan Democratic Movement.

On Tuesday, Dawar made this announcement on his official twitter account and also presented a series of reasons for it. The most prominent reason behind his departure was the unease and discontentment other political parties felt because of Dawar’s view on certain policies and state institutions.
Certain parties in PDM have either explicitly or implicitly, expressed their unease with my presence in the forum. The unnecessary friction caused as such, takes away from the important work that we do in our own respective rights. 2/6

We will continue to support PDM’s demands for strengthening democracy and civilian supremacy. We will continue with our struggle for justice and rights for our people, for upholding the rule of law and for the supremacy of the parliament and the constitution. 3/6

Our struggle for marginalised communities will continue, our struggle is a joint struggle of all those who continue to suffer grave injustices at the hands of those in power. 6/6— Mohsin Dawar (@mjdawar) November 25, 2020
