Pashtun man lynched to death by a mob of men in Quetta

A Pashtun man was lynched to death along with three others sustaining severe injuries in Hazara Town area of Quetta. They were attacked by an enraged mob comprising 300 men over a monetary dispute. The attackers belonged to the Hazara community. According to local sources, the violence was committed in the name of ‘honour’ as the attackers had accused some men of recording a video of the Hazara women. A video from the site of the incident is doing the rounds on social media. The video shows police officials are helping the alleged perpetrators escape the crime scene. 11 men arrested Eleven men have been arrested for lynching a man in Quetta’s Hazara Town Friday night. The police identified them with the help of a video. A police team reached the site and tried to save the three men from mob violence. This angered the crowd and they started throwing stones at the policemen. Saddar DSP Ayaz Haider and Barori SHO Azatullah were injured in the attack. The Balochistan home department has also suspended Barori SHO for showing negligence in the case. Reaction Social media has condemned the incident and people have demanded the authorities to catch the perpetrators at the earliest.

The family of the deceased staged a protest on Kirani Road, demanding justice for their son. They even entered the Red Zone while protesting. The deceased’s father said that they want the DSP and Barori SHO to be suspended for failing to fulfil their duties.
