In a world hit by Covid-19, bathroom breaks are to be determined by traffic lights in keeping with the requirements of social distancing and other protective measures.
How it works A yellow and green traffic light system was installed to keep the bathrooms safe in the ISA factory in Italy. Employees are required to flip a switch as they enter or exit the bathroom changing the colour of the light which indicates whether it’s safe for the other person to use or not. Access to bathrooms can be limited based on the distance between two individuals. Employees download an app on their smartphones and clip a small white device on to their work clothes and if it vibrates, that means they are too close to another employee. With the number of cases of Covid-19 in Italy surging past 200,000 in Italy, these measures, made possible using innovative technology, help Italian workers cope with the pandemic.
