Recently, an Indian YouTube channel is under fire for posting songs composed by Pakistani artists without purchasing the rights to do so.
Over the years, songs by Pakistani musicians such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Nazia Hassan and many others have made it across the border to Bollywood, sometimes illegally. “The Last Cigarette” Music by artists such as Bayaan, Kashmir, 21 the Band, Naseer Afridi, Khamaaj and Ali Sethi was posted on the YouTube channel called “The Last Cigarette.” Rearts, the Pakistani record label that represents Bayaan, Kashmir, 21 the Band, Naseer Afridi, and Khamaaj sent out a legal notice accusing the channel of copyright infringement.
“The music on this channel featured the content of five artists from our label which had not been obtained from the artists with prior consent.” – Rearts.
