Today marks the death anniversary of renowned religious scholar and singer Junaid Jamshed after his fatal plane crash three years ago.
Junaid Jamshed passed away in a plane crash while on a PIA flight PK-661 near Havelian with his wife and 47 other passengers. He was born in Karachi on September 3rd 1964. After obtaining his degree from the University of Engineering and Technology in Pakistan, he briefly worked as a civilian contractor and engineer for the Pakistan Air Force before choosing to pursue singing instead. In 2004, Junaid Jamshed officially renounced music and engineering choosing to devote his life to Islam. He became famous for reciting nasheeds on TV and releasing them on CD’s. His father, Jamshed Akbar Khan, was a retired Group Captain in the Pakistan Air Force. Soon after, he launched his own clothing line titled J by Junaid Jamshed. The brand still has several outlets across Pakistan. At the peak of his fame in the 80’s, he was a member of the band ‘Vital Signs’ and his most popular songs included ‘Aitebaar’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Dil Ki Baat’ Dil Dil Pakistan.
